Statutory Requirements of
Earthing/Grounding of System/equipment
As per Indian Earthing Standard IS 3043:1987
EPABX Systems/RF Antennae Etc
- Provision should be there for at least one distinct separate dedicated body Earthing in order to provide safety aspects for shock to human life and charge dissipation of spurious voltage generated by the system because of surges.
- Provision should be there for at least one distinct separate dedicated Neutral Earthing in order to provide localized Neutral to make Neutral strong and provide path to residual voltage of Neutral.
- The Neutral-Earth voltage should be measured, and it should be low as 2 -3 volts or less as possible. In case of high Neutral-Earth a separate localized Earthing point should be connected to Neutral of the system
Transformers HT/LT
- In case Transformers HT/LT : Provision should be there for at least two distinct separate body Earthing in order to provide safety aspects for shock to human life.
The Neutral should be Earthed with at least two distinct separate interconnected Earthing in order to achieve sufficient current dissipation and consistent/low neutral – earth voltage.
Panels Distribution/Power factor
- In case of Panels for Distribution/Power factor : Provision should be there for at least two distinct separate bodies Earthing in order to provide safety aspects for shock to human life.
CNC m/c
- In case of medium and high rating CNC m/c : Provision should be there for at least two distinct separate body Earthing in order to provide safety aspects of electronic circuit and for shock to human life. It provides safety of electronic circuit against surges/spikes generated by the induction current.
The Neutral should be Earthed with at least one distinct separate Earthing in order to achieve sufficient current dissipation and consistent/low
Neutral – Earth voltage.
Testing Equipment /System
- Provision should be there for at least one distinct separate dedicated body Earthing in order to provide safety aspects for shock to human life and charge dissipation of spurious voltage generated by the system because of surges.
- The Neutral-Earth voltage should be measured, and it should be low as 2 -3 volts or less as possible. In case of high Neutral-Earth a separate localized Earthing point should be connected to Neutral of the system.
Uninterrupted Power Supply
- Provision should be there for at least one distinct separate dedicated body Earthing in order to provide safety aspects for shock to human life and interruption of sinusoidal charge dissipation of spurious voltage generated by the system because of surges.
- The Neutral-Earth voltage should be measured, and it should be low as 2 -3 volts or less as possible. In case of high Neutral-Earth a separate localized Earthing point should be connected to Neutral of the system.
Generators
- In case of medium and high rating generators : Provision should be there for at least two distinct separate body Earthing in order to provide safety aspects for shock to human life.
The Neutral should be Earthed with at least two distinct separate interconnected Earthing in order to achieve sufficient current dissipation and consistent/low neutral – earth voltage
- In case of Extra high rating generators:
Number of Body/Neutral earthing points should be increased in order to cope up with high spurious voltage generated by the equipment.
